Front Desk Agents Do More Than Just Greeting People

Updated: Jun 22, 2018

The responsibilities of front desk agents extend past greeting people and answering the phone. Their people and business skills should be coupled with special qualities that will help them perform efficiently at their jobs.

Front desk agents should dress for the job. Agents should strive to dress as if they are going on a business meeting or a job interview. Regardless of whether there is a company dress policy or not, the clothes should always cleaned and well-pressed. Agents should avoid wearing clothes that are too short, too tight, or too low cut. Projecting a conservative image is very important because it reflects confidence and helpfulness, traits that greatly appeal to people.

Learning as much about the company is also an important part of a front desk agent’s job. The more an agent knows about the company, the more effective they will be able to accomplish specific tasks such as directing clients or guests to the correct department or when answering questions about the company.

All these skills and more are included in UPbook’s training courses to enhance the skills of new and veteran front desk agents.
