The receptionist at the front desk plays an important role in the success of a company, a fact that is often overlooked by many business owners. It is the receptionist that people see first and interact with as they arrive. And how they deal with clients, salespeople, potential clients, and other staff can reveal a lot about the company. Without a friendly face at the front desk, would people still love the idea of patronizing the business? Front desk receptionist duties can be daunting for the person who has not received the proper education, training, and experience. And managing the front desk is not a job for any person. There is a need for the right mixture of social skills, friendly personality, basic computer literacy, and multi-tasking skills. Front desk receptionists are also expected to perform some administrative and clerical tasks; thus, a basic knowledge of office systems management and computer use are also essential skills.
