Receptionists should possess a broad range of skills to handle their daily responsibilities – most notably their skills in communicating must be impeccable. They should as well be able to appreciate their role both in keeping and creating clients as they serve as the faces and to some degree, the persona of the company.

One of the many ‘talents’ that receptionists should be able to develop is to address clients, especially those who frequent the business, by their first name, this establishes a warm relationship that client look for in their service providers. This also tells the customers that receptionists pay attention to detail and want their customers to feel that they are a top priority. Addressing clients as Mr. And Ms. is also the proper protocol unless they prefer their first names.
